I survived day one of the Lincoln Park Arts Festival, whew! The weather was absolutely perfect. A few wonderful folks from Chicago Hot Glass, Nick and Heather, kindly asked me to join them at their booth, as I am now filling some of their beer-bottle glasses with my candles.
Chicago Hot Glass is a glass studio that is open to the public that provides education in glass blowing, glass fusing, kiln forming, and glass torchworking. Anyone curious about glass art is encouraged to stop by the studio and talk with the artists. Their “To Experience Glass” session is a brief introduction to glass blowing that requires no previous glass blowing experience. Learn to make a paper weight or a small cup!

Here is a shelf with the new, collaborative merchandise: reused Rogue Ale beer bottles, which Nick Paul cuts and polishes.
Candle bonus: After burning the candle, you can wash the soy wax out of the glass with hot water and soap, and you have yourself a Rogue Ale glass!
My regular merchandise was at the festival today and will be there tomorrow as well:
P.S., All the display items you see here are second-hand or from a thrift store. The black case is actually a CD rack that spins. The brown shelf is a find that was left behind in the duplex we moved into, and works out great for my more rugged-looking/smelling candles. My mom found this table cloth, which I think really makes the display pop.
Some of Chicago Hot Glass’s Work:
Heather was doing glass demonstrations all afternoon, to my amazement, and will be doing it again tomorrow:
Here is a cute, little fishy bead she made:
If you didn’t make it to the festival today, there is always tomorrow:)
